Baltic Amber FAQs

Q. What is Baltic amber?

A. Baltic Amber is fossilized tree resin (sap) from the Baltic region that dates from millions of years ago. It contains succinic acid, a natural pain-reliever and anti-inflammatory. Like all organic substances, Baltic amber comes in many shapes and sizes, each one unique. It has been used and loved since Neolithic times and it’s no different today!

Q. What does Baltic amber do?

A. When Baltic amber is worn against the skin, your body warmth causes the amber to release oil containing trace amounts of the succinic acid that your skin absorbs. When absorbed into the skin, it can relieve and/or help relieve symptoms of the following:

    • aches & pains
    • arthritis 
    • carpal tunnel

Q. What is a teething necklace?

A. Teething necklaces are worn by children to help reduce teething pain, drool, and general fussiness. They are used as a natural anti-inflammatory . They are worn around the neck, tucked under their clothes for skin contact.  They are only meant to be worn by the child, they are not a toy or meant to be chewed on.

Always supervise your child when wearing jewelry and remove for napping, baths, and sleeping. Some parents will wrap the necklaces around the child’s ankle and cover with a high sock, sleepsack, or footie pajamas during sleep. 

The beads are 2mm to 6mm (size of a pea) in size. They are double knotted between each bead, so in the rare case the string accidentally breaks the beads won’t scatter. 

A proper fit is also very important for safety. For infants, toddlers, and children who will try putting jewelry in their mouths, necklaces should be short enough that they can’t get it in their mouth, but long enough that it isn’t a choker. Check here for more sizing information. 

Q. Does it really work?

A. Mothers of teething children have been using Baltic amber for centuries to help with drooling, pain, inflammation, fussiness, nursing/latching, and sleep. Many of our customers report a positive difference anywhere from an hour to a day or two later. The first thing they usually notice is sleep has improved and the child seems to be much less fussy. Q. Is there a difference between polished/unpolished, or color?

A. Raw, unpolished amber is unprocessed and untreated, therefore it's the truest form of amber. It contains an extra layer of succinic acid that has not been stripped due to polishing so it is the most effective. Raw, semi-polished amber will still work wonderfully, so choose based upon which one you like. We do not sell a product we don't believe in or recommend.

We advise our customers to choose the amber that is most appealing to you visually- it all works beautifully!  Please note that amber and crystals are a God-made natural material, so variations in color and shapes are normal.

Q. How do crystals work?

A. Crystals are used to promote healing by positively interacting with your body’s energy field, and can be used to support healing for physical or emotional ailments.

Q. How do I know what a crystal looks like?

A. Check out our crystal directory! Because of the natural nature of our jewelry, colors, shapes, and sizes of beads may vary.

Q. What crystal do I need for anxiety, energy, sleep, etc?

Hazelwood FAQs

Q. What is Hazelwood?

A. Hazelwood is from the Corylus cornuta plant, also known as the Beaked Hazel plant.

Q. What does Hazelwood do?

A. Hazelwood is used to help with excess acidity issues such as eczema, ulcers, acid reflux, heartburn, GERD, and teething pain. When it is in contact with your skin, the wood will absorb excess acid in the body until a balanced pH is reached.

Q. How do I know when I need to replace Hazelwood?

A. If you notice the symptoms returning and/or the inside of the beads darken, you will need to replace the jewelry. This will likely be around 6 months.

Do not be alarmed if the outer bark peels off. This is natural and can happen with normal, everyday use.

Sizing & Care FAQs

Q. How do I clean my jewelry?

A. Add approximately 1 tsp sea salt to a bowl of warm water. Soak jewelry for 2-5 minutes. (Hazelwood should only do a 1-2 minute soak.) Gently rub each bead with a soft cloth and let air dry.

Avoid soaking soft crystals (such as selenite), malachite, and angelite.

Q. What does ‘recharge’ mean, and how do I do it?

A. Recharging your crystals cleanses them of negative energy, bringing them back to their full strength. You can recharge them any of the following ways: 

    • Lay out jewelry in full moonlight. This could be in a car dashboard, windowsill, or even on the ground.
    • Do a sage cleanse. Step by step directions can be found here.
    • Put jewelry on a Himalayan salt lamp or charging crystal for approximately 24 hours.

      Q. How do I know what size I need?

      A. We HIGHLY recommend measuring before ordering! See more information on finding the right fit here.

      If you can’t, our average sizes are:

        • 6.5-7.5” bracelet for women
        • 7.5-8.5” bracelet for men
        • 18” necklace for women
        • 20” necklace for men
        • 11” necklace for infants
        • 12-13” necklace for toddlers
        • 13-15” necklace for ‘big kids’
        • 16-18” necklace for teens and adults
      Sizes are approximate and can vary up to .25” above/below the listed size. Because of our jewelry's natural nature, the shapes and sizes of beads may vary.

        Q. How do I take the jewelry on and off?

        A. Our bracelets are strung on elastic, so simply slowly stretch over your hand to take on/off.

        For our jewelry with a screw clasp, simply align the clasp ends, and slowly screw them together. Take care not to over-tighten. Each time it is over-tightened, tiny fractures are created in the screw and clasp. Over time, these fractures can result in your clasp breaking. 

          Ordering FAQs

          Q. Can I exchange my item?

          A. Effective 4/16/19 we are no longer accepting exchanges. If an item doesn't fit, you are free to return the item for a refund. From there, you are free to purchase the item in the correct size. See more information on returns in the question below.

          Q. How can I return my item?

          A. You can return any non-custom item within 14 days of delivery. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging. Custom orders are not eligible for a refund.

          Jewelry that has been visibly worn or stretched out will not be accepted for refunds, and will be returned at the customer’s expense.

          Once your return is received, inspected and approved for refund we will issue the refund to the original payment method. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted so please allow up to 10 business days. If you have not received your refund after this time, please contact us at

          Q. What is the warranty on my jewelry?

          A. MacRae Naturals jewelry comes with a 30 day (from delivery) manufacturing warranty, covering defects from the crafting process only. Bar necklaces have a 14 day warranty. This warranty covers any jewelry purchased through our website. To return a warranty piece, click here.

          Any issues with length or damaged upon delivery products must be brought to our attention within 5 days of delivery, and returned for repair within 14 days of original delivery date. We will not accept shipping warranty claims after 5 days.

          Please note: This does not cover stretched jewelry, dropped jewelry, angel aura quartz, or items sold in our live sales on social media. This also does not cover water damage to soft crystals such as selenite, sodalite, or lapis lazuli. 

          Q. My worn jewelry broke/stretched out, can I get it repaired?

          A. Damage including but not limited to: stretching, chipped or broken beads, damaged stones or accents, broken string, or chipped or broken clasps will be fixed at customer expense with a repair slot, found here. Final sale items qualify for repairs. Customer will be responsible for shipping both ways.

          We will not add length. If we have to replace lost/broken beads, or if your order is over 1 year old, you will receive an additional invoice for charges. Please purchase repairs separately from new jewelry, no discounts allowed for repairs.

          Q. How long does it take for my custom jewelry to be shipped?

          A. Our custom jewelry takes approx. 5-9 business days from order placement to shipping.  Our jewelry is handmade with extreme detail and high standards. Each piece is made with love and prayed over, specifically for you and your loved ones. 

          Q. I want my order as soon as possible, what do I need to do?

          A. Our jewelry takes approximately 2-7 business days (or up to 14 for custom orders) from order placement to shipping, when being made to order.

          Adding a rush to your order puts your order at the top of the list to be made, and will ship out from our office in 1-4 business days.

          At checkout, priority shipping is an option. This helps move your package along in transit once it has been shipped out from our office. USPS states that priority packages usually* arrive within 1-3 business days.

          *Shipping is slower than usual due to COVID-19, but USPS states priority shipping is the faster option.

          Q. My package is lost, what do I do?

          A. Talk to your neighbors, it likely was delivered to the wrong house. (This is the most common issue.) Talk to your delivery person, or leave a note in your mailbox.

          If it does not show up in a day or two, open up a case with USPS & let us know so we can do the same. If you purchased Route package protection, you can file a claim here

          If the package is lost due to an incorrect address provided by the buyer, no refund will be made.
